In 2011, the Peace Development Fund will be celebrating 30 years of spreading Peace Through Justice through grantmaking, training, advocacy, and partnerships built around mutual respect, sharing of resources, and transparency of planning and decision-making. Since 1981, PDF has envisioned a world in which all people live in communities that are economically sustainable, healthy, and in balance with the natural environment which foster self-determination and cultural dignity, social and economic justice, human rights, and equitable relationships.
From its roots in the disarmament and anti-nuclear movement, PDF has flourished into a “go-to” foundation on issues of peace, human rights, social justice and environmental protection. Thousands of grants totaling in the millions of dollars have been awarded by PDF since the first grant cycle in 1982, and we look forward to even greater successes and grander goals in the decades to come.
To celebrate this milestone anniversary of 30 Years of Peace Development, PDF will be sharing stories from the past thirty years right here on this blog! Past grantee profiles, old photographs, gems from back issues of our print newsletter Peace Developments, and other treasures from our archives will be shared here throughout 2011, giving us all the opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of our past as we set new and exciting goals for our future.
We will begin posting these stories in January 2011; until then, we encourage you to peruse our Grantees and Groups Trained lists, learn more about our organization, Staff, and Board, check out our new facebook page, and continue to support the vision of peace.
Thank you for joining us in this momentous celebration! We will see you again in January 2011! Until then, Peace!
